Agnes and myself are off to asia via St. Petersburg, Moscow before catching the transmongolian and arriving in Beijing on August 27th 2006. That's as far as the exact planning is at right now. Afterwards it'll be travel in China for a few weeks, down to South Korea and then back to China and hopefully reach Tibet. From there cross into Nepal, then India and then Southeast Asia, after that ..... ?

China post #2

The Yusopov palace, where the nasty Rasputin was done in (eventually) and the Hermitage museum was visited. Just as well we had free entry to the latter (students!) as it was absolutely packed with tour groups - we only lasted an hour. Agnes had to try the Beef Stroganoff where it originated, I had caviar instead!

Funny, I thought all the Russians were absolute alcos for the first few days (later this was confirmed, they really are) because they walk around the streets all day with bottles and cans of beer. Seemingly, bee drinking is a new thing in Russia and it's advertised as a refreshing drink - like coca-cola! When the open a bottle of vodka, they don't stop until they finish it ....
