Agnes and myself are off to asia via St. Petersburg, Moscow before catching the transmongolian and arriving in Beijing on August 27th 2006. That's as far as the exact planning is at right now. Afterwards it'll be travel in China for a few weeks, down to South Korea and then back to China and hopefully reach Tibet. From there cross into Nepal, then India and then Southeast Asia, after that ..... ?

China post #4

Went to a microbrewey in St.Petersburg, Putin's favourite bee it appears, not bad kinda like Weizen ... We finally boarded the overnight train to Moscow and were lucky enough to share our compartment with a Russian chap called Sasha (short for Alexander and there is a LOT of Sashas in mother Russia) who spoke fluent english and a nice lady called Stalina who didn't, but bought a bottle of cognac from the conductor and insisted that we finish it with her. Then Sasha and I had to discretely leave the cabin while the ladies donned their night attire and then Stalina ordered "lights out!". Not so easy to sleep on a train as I thought, it's hard to get used to the clunkity-clunk, but even worse is when it stops at a station as they start making loud annoucements over the tannoy no matter what the hour!
